In June 2025, Greece's current account recorded a deficit of €1.18 billion, a significant change from the surplus of €0.27 billion observed in the same month the previous year. This development was primarily attributed to a broadening deficit in the goods account, which increased to €3.16 billion from €2.48 billion a year earlier. This was characterized by a 7.7% decrease in exports and a 5.5% increase in imports. Furthermore, the shortfall in primary income escalated to €0.97 billion from €0.31 billion and the deficit in secondary income widened to €0.27 billion from €0.09 billion. Conversely, the services account saw a surplus increase to €3.22 billion from €3.13 billion, largely owing to improvements in the travel sector and, to a lesser extent, other services. Over the first six months of 2025, the current account deficit reduced to €7.6 billion, compared with €8.29 billion during the same timeframe the previous year.
