In July 2025, Albania experienced a reduction in its trade deficit, decreasing to ALL 48.2 billion from the previous year's ALL 52.2 billion. This change was primarily due to a 5.7% increase in exports, reaching ALL 35.2 billion, while imports saw a 2.4% decline to ALL 83.4 billion. Export expansion was largely attributed to robust growth in the sectors of minerals, fuels, and electricity (increasing by 12.8 percentage points), followed by machinery and spare parts (up by 1.2 percentage points), and food, beverages, and tobacco (up by 0.8 percentage points). However, these gains were partially offset by reductions in construction materials and metals (down by 8.0 percentage points) as well as chemicals and plastics (down by 1.3 percentage points). Exports to specific countries showed notable variances, with increases recorded in Kosovo (up by 72.5%), Greece (up by 14.8%), and Germany (up by 0.6%), whereas exports to Italy fell by 6.4%, North Macedonia by 32.7%, and Türkiye by 3.2%. On the import front, notable decreases were seen in the categories of construction materials and metals (down by 2.0 percentage points) and machinery (down by 1.7 percentage points), which were partially counterbalanced by increases in imports of food, beverages, and tobacco (up by 0.9 percentage points), fuels and electricity (up by 0.7 percentage points), and chemicals and plastics (up by 0.7 percentage points). Import levels dropped from Italy (down by 10.3%), Germany (down by 16.6%), and Kosovo (down by 21.5%), whereas there was a rise in imports from China (up by 7.6%), Türkiye (up by 12.0%), and Greece (up by 5.0%).
