In October 2025, Sweden's Services PMI decreased to 55.4 from a revised 57.9 in September, which had recorded its peak in over three years. Despite this decrease, the latest figures still underscore a robust expansion in the services sector. This strength is bolstered by a more significant increase in new orders, which rose to 59.9 from 58.3, and in planned business output, which climbed to 64.7 from 62. However, business volume growth displayed a pronounced deceleration, falling to 54.2 from 61.8, and the employment index returned to negative territory, declining to 47.4 from 52.7, indicative of reduced hiring activity. Price pressures escalated as well, with the index for raw and intermediate goods prices climbing to 55.7, up from 53.9 in September, marking the highest level since last spring. Jörgen Kennemar, who is in charge of the PMI analysis, noted, "Lower interest rates from the Riksbank and a more expansionary fiscal policy could, over time, bolster the services sector. This potential support may already be evident in the business plans of service companies, which continued to rise in October."
