Bulgaria's annual inflation rate remained steady at 5.3% in August 2025, consistent with the figure from the prior month, yet still marking its peak since November 2023. Price increases were recorded in several categories, including alcoholic beverages and tobacco, which rose to 7.7% from July's 7.6%, housing utilities at 8.5% from 8.4%, communication at 4.8% from 4.1%, education at 8.1% from 7.9%, and the restaurant and hotels sector climbing to 9.0% from 8.3%. Additionally, the decline in prices occurred at a slower rate for some areas, such as furnishings, household equipment, and maintenance, which eased from a decrease of 0.7% to 0.3%. Conversely, inflation moderated in the sectors of recreation and culture, decreasing from 14.5% to 14.1%, as well as in food and non-alcoholic beverages, which went down from 7.6% to 6.9%. On a monthly comparison, consumer prices increased modestly by 0.1% in August, in contrast to a 1.7% rise observed in the previous month.
