Latvia’s industrial production rose by 0.5% year-on-year in June 2026, down sharply from a revised 5.9% increase in May and marking the weakest expansion since March 2025. Growth in manufacturing slowed to 5.0% from 7.2% in the previous month, as output was held back by more modest gains in food products (5.7% vs. 8.3%) and notable declines in several categories: wearing apparel (-16.8% vs. 25.8%), leather and related products (-11.8% vs. 3.8%), and paper and paper products (-7.9% vs. 6.9%).

There was also a steep contraction in the production of electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply, which fell 29.8% after having grown 7.1% in May. In contrast, activity in mining and quarrying accelerated markedly, with output rising 13.8% year-on-year compared with 2.2% previously.

On a month-on-month basis, overall industrial production declined by 0.8% in June, reversing a revised 0.3% increase in May. For the second quarter of 2026 as a whole, industrial production was up 4.2% compared with the same quarter a year earlier.
