The Directorate General of Trade Remedies (DGTR) in India has advised implementing a five-year anti-dumping duty on specific steel imports from China, according to a report by The Economic Times. This measure aims to shield the domestic market from unfair pricing practices. The DGTR's investigation found that cold-rolled non-oriented electrical steel was being imported into India at prices lower than their standard value, constituting dumping. The recommended duties are set at USD 223.82 per tonne for select Chinese companies, with a higher rate of USD 414.92 per tonne for others. Although the DGTR makes recommendations, the ultimate decision lies with the Ministry of Finance.
