In July 2025, Colombia experienced a significant increase in its trade deficit, which expanded to $2.05 billion from $0.96 billion recorded the previous year. This shift was driven by a rise in imports alongside a downturn in exports. Notably, imports surged by 16.2%, reaching $6.48 billion. This growth was primarily propelled by a 12.9% increase in manufactured goods, totaling $4.97 billion. Additionally, there was a significant 36.5% rise in imports of agricultural products, food, and beverages, which amounted to $0.88 billion, and fuel and extractive imports also rose by 15.3% to $0.60 billion.

On the other hand, the decline in exports by 4.1% brought them down to $4.43 billion. A key factor in this decrease was a substantial 25.6% reduction in fuel and extractive shipments, which fell to $1.73 billion. However, some of the export decline was mitigated by a robust 31.8% growth in agricultural exports, which increased to $1.25 billion, as well as an 11.8% rise in manufactured exports to $1.05 billion.
