In April 2025, car sales in Indonesia increased by 5% compared to the same month the previous year, reaching 51,205 units. This rise marks a recovery from the 5.1% decline observed in March, spurred by the low base effect attributed to the previous year's timing of the Eid al-Fitr festival in April. Despite this growth, the first four months of the year saw a 2.9% year-on-year decrease in sales, totaling 256,368 units, a drop from 264,014 units recorded during the same period in 2024. The Association of Indonesian Automotive Industries (GAIKINDO) has projected car sales for 2025 to range between 750,000 and 900,000 units. This target not only exceeds their revised 2024 projection of 850,000 units but also surpasses the actual sales figure of 865,723 units achieved last year. On a month-to-month basis, April 2025 witnessed a steep 27.8% decline in sales, following a 1.9% reduction in March, largely due to the reduced number of working days attributed to the extended Eid al-Fitr holiday.
